The internal struggle that takes place when the unregenerate soul (*mind, emotions, and will) wars against the recreated spirit man was completely vanquished, when God the Son Jesus endured many layers of agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, revealing His unwavering, undefeatable obedience to His Father. By this ironclad obedience, Jesus was able to walk, with His face set as a flint, all the way to Calvary and His Crucifixion (and then His glorious Resurrection!). Because of Jesus’ victory over the “Son of man” human part of His soul, we know that, by His power, we also can overcome any and all residual disobedient and unrighteous things in our own human nature which God our Father desires to remove from us!
